With Membership Comes Responsibility: Ensuring Human Rights in Vietnam
I’m ready for #HoithaoUPR in Geneva and looking forward to attend a pre-UPR side event on Vietnam’s human rights record.
The Universal Periodic Review (UPR) “has great potential to promote and protect human rights in the darkest corners of the world.”
– Ban Ki-moon, UN Secretary-General
The Universal Periodic Review (UPR) is a unique process which involves a review of the human rights records of all UN Member States.
Now that the Socialist Republic of Vietnam is a member of the UN Human Rights Council, it must abide by international standards on basic rights.
In advance of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam’s UPR on February 5, a group Vietnamese and international human rights organizations and activists will shine a spotlight on the most egregious human rights abuses in Vietnam today.
